In the early years of independence, Israeli Air Force used a variety of camouflages - the first aircraft used a scheme of unspecified green and brown colours, later supplemented by standard RAF colours used on Spitfires and natural metal finish of Mustang's and Mosquitoes.
Avia S-199 was the only type painted in Reed Green.
In 1955, a new standard camouflage of Grey-Blue and Medium Brown over Silk Grey, was introduced for use on all IAF aircraft except for the so-called "leading fighters" that used overall aluminium (natural metal) finish instead.
