The Alouette III helicopter is a light utility transport, single-engine, manufactured by Aérospatiale (Sud-Est before and Sud Aviation), from France.
It is a development of Allouette II having a larger size and greater load capacity. Originally propelled by a turbine Turbomeca Artouste IIIB, the Alouette is recognized for its operational capabilities at high altitudes, being ideal for rescue in mountainous areas. The first version of the Alouette III, the SE-3160 prototype first flew on 28 February 1959. Its production started in 1968 and remained until 1968. In 1968 began to be produced SA-316B version.
SE-3160 / SA-316A Alouette III: the first Alouette III series took off in July 1961, the year that the first copies to military users are delivered. This version has been renamed-SA-316A from 1968;
HAL Chetak: SE-3160 version built under license in India. This designation includes the Indian version of the SA-316B built later;
SE-3164 Alouette canon: tactical support helicopter prototype built on a modified SE-3160, where a quick swivel shot 20mm cannon apontável left the cabin, four AS-11 and AS-12 missiles or was installed cocoons rockets. Browning a version with two guns mounted on the side of the fuselage was also tested;
SA-316B Alouette III: version of the SA-126A with the same engine, but improved;
IAR-316B: version of the SA-316B built under license in Romania;
IAR-317 SKYFOX: Romanian project of attack helicopter with a two-seater cabin tandem, based on the IAR-316B;

SA-316C Alouette III: latest version of the SA-316 with an engine Artouste IIID 870 CV;
SA-319B Alouette III: remotorizada version with a turbine Turboméca Astazou XIV 870 hp, allowing a reduction of consumption by 15% - 20%;
SA-319C Alouette III: latest version of Alouette only with modifications of details.
